Eggs

An Easter Egg Story: April 11, 2009

We hunted for some eggs.

We found some eggs.

We collected some eggs.

We decorated some eggs.

We boiled some eggs.

We played with some eggs.

We colored some eggs.

We admired some eggs.

We ate some eggs.

And our fingers were dyed. So finger painting seemed like the right thing to do next.

First

It's not the first time. Platypus once again managed to take First Place in the DragonComet Short Story Contest.

As the First Place Winner in 2008, this is her second time with the first place honors (and you may also notice that in 2007, Platypus was awarded honorable mention). Incidentally, her 2009 winning entry is titled Fourth.

Along with the award, Platypus also received this pile of Gold:

As if winning wasn't enough, the nice letter sent out by the judges made the recommendation of submitting the story to Leading Edge magazine.

"...while we cannot guarantee that your story will be accepted for publication, we know that your story is good enough that it will be a strong candidate for publication."

Spring

Our first day of Spring came with quite nice weather. The kids enjoyed playing outside, and one even ventured off for a camp out.

The grass is still working on waking up, but provides a soft place for exploration.

Oranges

We're not talking citrus. Feast your eyes on some of very own home-made foods:

Mmm. Pumpkin bites. We actually baked our own pumpkins in November, and put some of the extra in the freezer.

We've fine-tuned our recipe, and have a pretty good handle on the home-made version now.

Sweet potato fries. Baked, not fried. So does that make it sweet baked potato? You say potato, we say yum.

Soon

Spring is just around the corner. We sure are looking forward to it. The weather has been somewhat kind in giving us a few days clear and warm enough to spend some time outside. We have started pruning the trees, but are still not quite done. Soon enough, though.

Concertina

The next installment in our instrument series:

This set of bellows has played a part in renditions of such songs as "Viva La Vida" and "Apologize."
